In contemporary implant dentistry, understanding the inflammatory response and tissue changes that occur following dental extraction has become a critical component of treatment planning. This is particularly important in the anterior and aesthetic zones, where even a routine extraction may result in alveolar bone resorption and soft tissue collapse, potentially compromising gingival architecture and the final restorative outcome.

This lecture explores biologically driven strategies for preserving alveolar bone and soft tissue from the pre-extraction stage through final restoration. Based on the biology of the natural tooth–periodontal complex, it also introduces the concepts and clinical applications of Partial Extraction Therapy. These techniques are designed to minimize inflammatory trauma, maintain periodontal support, and recreate natural gingival contours in complex aesthetic cases.

     - Graduated in Dentistry from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña, Dominican Republic

     - Completed postgraduate specialty training in Periodontics at Penn Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania

     - Received a Certificate in Periodontics from Penn Dental Medicine

     - Specialized in periodontics, implant dentistry, and periodontal-prosthetic treatment planning

     - Clinical interests include digital implant workflows, complex implant rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary treatment planning

     - Currently practicing in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Texas, and operating Oak Smile DFW

  • - If within 7 days from the payment date and there is no record of course participation
    (e.g., video playback, download, etc.)
    → a full refund will be issued.
  • - If more than 7 days have passed since the payment date,
    10% of the payment amount will be deducted as a cancellation fee, and the remaining amount will be refunded.
  • - Refund requests can be made through the Customer Service Center,
    and refunds will be processed within 5 business days after the request is received.

  • - If a single-session or multi-session course has been partially completed,
    the refund amount will be calculated according to the following criteria.
  • - Single-session course :

    Refund will be issued after deducting the tuition fee proportionate to the course completion rate (based on viewing time).

  • - Multi-session course (continuous program):

    Refund will be issued after deducting the fee for the sessions already completed plus a 10% cancellation fee from the total payment amount.

  • - Example :

    If you request a refund after completing 2 out of 5 sessions
    → Refund = Total amount − [(Total amount ÷ 5 × 2) + 10% cancellation fee]

  • * If more than 7 days have passed since the payment date, an additional 10% penalty will be deducted.
    * All refunds are processed on Fridays. Refund requests made on Friday will be processed on the following Friday.
